Although Todd Oldham has been a facet in the fashion industry for a number of years, he finally feels like himself when he is behind the scenes. You can’t walk into a department store in the US without finding a bedspread or accessories plastered with the Todd Oldham label. Oldham even had a TV series on a popular music channel showing viewers how to turn old bedsheets into dresses, or how to make a boring living room modern and colorful.
After Todd Oldham was able to make a name for himself he went into semi retirement. Although he never stopped designing, he started to focus on other things that mattered, such as creating a series of dishes emblazoned with the work of Charley Harper. Oldham has worked as a photographer, a writer and even an interior decorator, but nothing was more thrilling than being able to recreate someone else’s art and give the new generation access to the classics.
Oldham believes that his work is far from over, but he accepts that he has entered a different stage in his life. With dozens of celebrities entering the fashion industry, its easy enough to create a long-lasting label, but having a major impact on the public is something altogether different. Todd hopes that he will help to inspire up and coming fashion designers that aren’t afraid to think outside of the box. For a man that was once referred to as a hack, Todd Oldham has certainly been able to make a name for himself in the fashion world.
